Members of the congregation at Church of His Kingdom love being together and enjoy the various programs and events available at our church. The following is a brief overview of some of our programs, activities, and events.
Children's Program
Our children's program, for ages 2-12, is called the Joshua Generation. Our children meet every Saturday morning for Bible study. Many other fun activities, including field trips, are scheduled for other times during the week.
Young Adult Programs
The young adults in our church, ages 12-30, meet at least one night a week for activities such as prayer, worship, Bible study, and fun fellowship. Various informal apprenticeships and ministry training are also provided to encourage maturity and growth in our young adults.
Centers of Learning by the Sea – Extended Program
Centers of Learning by the Sea – Extended Program (COLS-EP) is conducted at the church facility. The program offers individualized learning programs for students in grades 7-12. COLS-EP is designed to enrich basic academics by offering supplemental enrichment classes, such as art, drama, culinary arts, physical education, typing, computer training, ethics, and the Bible. COLS-EP also offers supplemental tutoring by caring, qualified teachers.
Personal Finance Educational Program
Financial workshops and newsletters are provided to equip church members with the skills and tools necessary to better manage their personal finances.
Worship/Music Program
Songwriters, musicians, and worship leaders meet each week to practice music, write new songs, and prepare for upcoming church worship services. The program is instrumental in maturing ministries of worship who can lead the congregation into the presence of the Lord through worship and song.
Bible Study Program
Several Bible studies are held on different nights during the week in various locations, providing opportunities for evangelism, outreach, and spiritual enrichment. Our church also maintains a lending library of Living Word literature and audio recordings as well as other reference materials to enhance personal and group Bible study.
Senior Citizens' Prayer Meetings
A group of our senior citizens meet once a week for a time of prayer and fellowship.
Biblical Celebrations
Each year we celebrate the spiritual aspects of the biblical feasts of Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. We have discovered many deep truths symbolized by these feasts which have a direct application to our Christian walk with God.
Performing Arts Events
Dramas, sketches, videos, monologues, and song and dance presentations are performed throughout the year.
Thanksgiving Variety Show
On Thanksgiving weekend we showcase our local talent in a variety show.
Sandcastle Days
Every summer during the month of July, the City of Imperial Beach, in conjunction with the local community, sponsors a parade and sandcastle competition. Church members participate in this festive event by building a float, marching in the parade, and entering the sandcastle competition.
New Year's Eve Celebration
On New Year's Eve, we celebrate with games and entertainment at the church. On New Year's Day, we have a church-wide breakfast hosted at the home of one of our families.
Saturday Night Barbeque
A barbeque is held on the church property every Saturday evening. This event is filled with good fellowship and, at times, includes a short Bible study.
As a Living Word Fellowship church, Church of His Kingdom is overseen by Gary and Marilyn Hargrave.
